F1 Montreal - Canadian GP Tips and Tricks

You’ve scored your tickets. You’ve booked your luxury hotel. Now it’s time to prepare for an incredible F1 experience in Montreal. Whether you’re heading to the Paddock Club or posted up in a grandstand with your crew, here’s what to know before you go:

What can I bring into the races (food, drinks, bags, cameras, flags)? You’re allowed to bring small backpacks, clear bags, flags, and standard-sized cameras. Food and non-alcoholic drinks in plastic bottles are permitted, but no alcohol or glass containers. Security checks all bags, so pack light and review the circuit’s rules before heading out.

Are coolers allowed? What are the size restrictions for bags/coolers? Soft-sided coolers are allowed, but they must be small enough to fit under your seat (generally under 13" x 9" x 5"). Hard coolers or oversized bags will be turned away at the gate. If you're in a hospitality area, food and drink are provided, so you won’t need to bring much.

Should I bring earplugs or ear protection due to the noise? Absolutely yes. Formula 1 cars are loud—especially if you're near the braking zones or the start/finish straight. Earplugs or noise-canceling earmuffs are a must, especially for children or first-time fans.

What should I wear/pack (rain gear, sunscreen, comfortable shoes)? Montreal weather in June is unpredictable. You’ll want to dress in layers and pack:

  • Rain poncho or waterproof jacket (umbrellas are discouraged)

  • Sunscreen and sunglasses

  • Comfortable shoes (you’ll walk a lot!)

  • A hat for shade Even in VIP hospitality, a stroll around the circuit can mean unexpected sun—or rain.

Can I bring a seat cushion? Yes, and it’s a smart idea. Grandstand seats are plastic bleacher-style with no padding. Bring a small cushion or stadium seat for comfort, especially if you’re in your spot all day.
